[محمد بن أحمد] بن محمود القاضى أبو جعفر النسفى كان من أعيان الفقهاء أخذ عن أبي بكر الرازى عن الكرخي ومات سنة أربع عشرة وأربعمائة. (قال الجامع) ذكر القارى أن له تعيلقة في الخلاف وكان زاهداً ورعا متعففاً فقيراً قنوعا يحكى أنه بات ليلة مهموما من ضيق البال وسوء الحال وكثرة العيال فوقع في خاطره فرع من فروع مذهبه فأعجب به فقام يرقص في داره ويقول أين الملوك وأبناء الملوك فسألته زوجته فأخبرها فتعجبت.
