[علي بن محمد] بن إسماعيل بن علي بن أحمد بن محمد بن إسحاق المعروف بشيخ الإسلام السمرقندي الاسبيجابي نسبة إلى إسبيجاب بكسر الهمزة وسكون السين المهملة وكسر الباء الفارسية وسكون الياء المثناة التحتية وفتح الجيم بعده ألف بعده باء بلدة بين تاشكند وسيرام كذا ضبطه الصفي أمين الدين الكاشفي علي بن الحسين الواعظ في الرشحات ولد فى جمادى الأولى سنة أربع وخمسين وأربعمائة وسكن سمرقند ولم يكن أحد يحفظ مذهب أبي حنيفة ويعرفه مثله في عصره عمر العمر الطويل في نشر العلم ومات بسمرقند سنة خمس وثلاثين وخمسمائة وتفقه عليه جماعة منهم صاحب الهداية علي أبي بكر الفرغاني وله شرح مختصر الطحاوي والمبسوط.
