(علي بن الحسين) ركن الإسلام أبو الحسن السغدي نسبته إلى سغد بضم السين المهملة وسكون الغين المعجمة بعدها دال مهملة ناحية من نواحي سمرقند كان إمامًا فاضلًا فقيهًا مناظرًا سكن ببخارى وتصدر للإفتاء وولى القضاء انتهت إليه رياسة الحنفية ورحل إليه في النوازل والواقعات تكرر ذكره في فتاوى قاضيخان وسائر مشاهير الفتاوى أخذ الفقه عن شمس الأئمة السرخي وروى عنه شرح السير الكبير. (قال الجامع) كانت وفاته سنة إحدى وستين وأربعمائة ببخارى كذا قال السمعاني وقال كان إمامًا فاضلا مناظرًا سمع جماعة انتهى ومن تصانيفه النتف في الفتاوي وشرح الجامع الكبير ذكره القاري وغيره.
