(على بن الحسن) بن محمد بن أبي جعفر أبو الحسن المعروف بالبرهان البلخي إمام جليل القدر كثير العلم له الاسم المشهور والثناء المذكور ولد بسكندر بكسر السين المهملة بلدة بنواحي طخارستانمن نواحي بلخ وتفقه ببخارى على برهان الدين الكبير عبد العزيز بن عمر بن مازه حتى برع في الفقه وبرع في الأصول والفقه وورد دمشق ودرس بها مات في شعبان سنة ثمان وأربعين وخمسمائة وممن تفقه عليه عبد الرشيد الولوالجي ومحمد بن يوسف بن علي العقيلى والبدر الأبيض يوسف وغيرهم.
