(أحمد بن الحسن) بن على أبو حامد الفقيه المروزي عن الحاكم والخطيب أنه كان فقيهاً عارفاً بالأصول والفروع أخذ ببغداد عن أبي الحسن الكرخى وببلخ عن أبي القاسم الصفار عن نصير بن يحيى عن محمد ابن سَماعة عن أبي يوسف وكان حافظاً للحديث بصيراً بالتفسير صنف الكثير وله تاريخ بديع ورد بغداد وتفقه ثم عاد إلى خراسان فتولى قضاء القضاة (قال الجامع) أرخ ابن الأثير في الكامل وفاته سنة ست وسبعين وثلاثمائة حيث قال في حوادثها فيها توفي أحمد بن الحسن بن علي أبو حامد المروزي ويعرف بابن الطبرى الفقيه الحنقي تفقه ببغداد على أبي الحسن الكرخي وولى قضاء القضاة بخراسان ومات في صفر وكان عابداً محدثا ثقة انتهى.
