    ١٦٦٣ - (ت ٧٤٤ هـ): محمود بن علي بن عبد الولي بن خُوْلان، البَعْلي الفقيه، الفَرَضي الحنبلي، أبو الثناء بهاء الدين. قال ابن العماد (¬٢): ولد سنة سبع مئة تقريبًا، وسمع الحديث من جماعة، وقرأ على الحافظ الذَّهبي عدة أجزاء، وتفقَّه على الشيخ مجد الدين الحراني، ولازم الشيخ تقي الدين ابن تيميَّة، وبرع في الفرائض والوصايا، والجبر والمقابلة، وكان مفتيًا ديَّنًا، متواضعًا متوددًا، ملازمًا للاشتغال، حريصًا على إفادة الطلبة، بارًّا بهم، محسنًا إليهم، تفقه به جماعةٌ، وانتفعوا به، وبرع منهم طائفة. توفي ببَعْلَبَكَّ في رجب، سنة أربعٍ وأربعين وسبع مئة. انتهى. وذكره ابن رجب (¬٣) بأبسط من هذا.
