    ١٣٤٠ - (ت ٦٩٦ هـ): عمر بن عبد الله بن عمر بن عوض المقدسي، الفقيه، الحنبلي، قاضي القضاة بالديار المِصْرِية، عز الدين أبو حفص. قال ابن العماد (¬١): سمع من جعفر الهَمْدَاني، وابن رواح، وأفتى، وَدَرَّسَ وكان محمودَ القضايا، مشكورَ السيرة، متثبتًا في الأحكام، مليحَ الشكل، سمع منه الذهبي وقال عنه: إمامٌ جَمَّاعٌ للفضائل محمودُ القضايا، متثبتٌ، توفي بالقاهرة في صفر سنة ستًّ وتسعين وست مئة، ودفن بتربة الحافظ عبد الغني، وله سِتٌّ وستونَ سنة. انتهى. وذكره ابن رجب (¬٢) بنحوه.
