٨٢٨ - (ت ٥٣٦ هـ): إسماعيل بن أحمد بن عمر بن أبي الأَشْعث، أبو القاسم ابن السَّمَرْقَنْدي، الحنبلي الحافظ. قال ابن العماد (¬٤): ولد بدمشق سنة أربع وخمسين وأربع مئة، وسمع بها من الخطيب، وعبد الدائم الهلالي، وابن طَلَّاب، والكبار، وببغداد من الصَّرِيْغني فمن بعده، قال أبو العلاء الهَمَذاني: ما أعدل به أحدًا من شيوخ العراق، وهو من شيوخ ابن الجوزي. وتوفي في ذي القعدة سنة ستٍّ وثلاثين وخمس مئة. انتهى.
