    ٥٢٦ - (ت ٢٢٨ هـ): الهيثم بن خارجة، أبو محمد الخراساني الأصل.قال النابلسي (¬١): سمع الليث بن سعد، ويعقوب القمي، والجراح بن المليح، وإسماعيل بن عياش. وروى عنه: أحمد بن حنبل، ومحمد بن إسحاق الصاغاني. وكان صاعقة يكنيه: أبا يحيى. والناس يكنونه: أبا أحمد. وقال هشام بن عمار: كنا نسميه شعبة الصغير. وأثنى عليه أحمد بن حنبل، وكان يتزهد، وكان سيِّئَ الخلق مع أصحاب الحديث، وقد سأل أحمد بن حنبل عن أشياء، ومات ببغداد سنة ثمان وعشرين ومئتين، وقيل: في ذي الحجة سنة سبع وعشرين ومئتين. انتهى. وذكره ابن حجر في "التهذيب" (¬٢) و"التقريب"، والخزرجي في "الخلاصة" (¬٣)، وغيرهما.
