والمنسوب: أحمد بن محمد بن الحسن بن البرد الملنجي. أبو عبد الله المقرئ الأصبهاني. حدث عن أبي بكر عبد الله بن محمد القيّار، وأبي الشيخ الحافظ. سمع منه جماعة، منهم: أبو بكر الخطيب، وتوفي سنة (٤٣٧). ومحمد بن محمد بن أبي القاسم المؤذن أبو عبد الله الملنجي. سمع أبا الفضائل بن أبي الرجاء الضبابي، وأبا القاسم إسماعيل بن علي الحمّامي، وأبا طاهر المعروف بهاجر، وغيرهم.قدم بغداد حاجّا وحدث بها في سنة (٥٨٨) فسمع منه محمد بن المبارك، وغيره بدمشق، وعاد إلى بلده، ومات في سنة (٦١٢) (١).
