والمنسوب: صالح بن أحمد بن محمد بن أحمد بن صالح بن عبد الله بن قيس بن الهذيل بن يزيد بن العباس بن الأحنف بن قيس التميمي الكوملاذاني، هو وأبوه من الأئمة والعلماء والحفّاظ. روى أحمد أبو الحسين عن محمد بن حيّويه ومحمد بن الحسين بن الفرج وغيرهما كثير، ورحل إلى العراق فسمع من خلق من أهلها. ويروي عنه ابنه صالح وخلق لا يحصى عددهم. وكان ابنه صالح بن أحمد من الحفّاظ وله تاريخ لهمذان، وسمع الكثير، ورواى وصنف.مات لثمان بقين من شعبان سنة (٣٨٤) ومولده سنة (٣٠٣) (١).
