والمنسوب: أبو نصر أحمد بن الشيخ بن حمّويه بن زهير الكاسني. الفقيه الشافعي، الأديب الشاعر المناظر، له تصانيف في الفقه، منها: كتاب سماه "تواني الحجج" قال في أوله: شيء تلألأ تلألؤ السرج، ثم يسمى تواني الحجج. سمع أبا الحسين محمد بن طالب، وأبا يعلى عبد المؤمن بن خلف النّسفيّين، وتوفي بكاسن شابّا في سنة (٣٤٣) (٣). (١٦٩٩) النسبة: الكاشغري، نسبة إلى كاشْغَر: بالتقاء الساكنين، والشين معجمة والغين أيضا، وراء: وهي مدينة وقرى ورساتيق (٤) يسافر إليها من سمرقند، وتلك النواحي، وهي في وسط بلاد الترك، وأهلها مسلمون.
