والمنسوب: الحسين بن سعيد بن المهنّد بن مسلمة بن أبي علي الطائي، الشيزري، حدّث.من شيوخه: أبو بكر يوسف الميانجي، وأبو عبد الله بن خالويه النحوي، وأبو الحسين أحمد بن علي بن إبراهيم الأنصاري، وغيرهم. من تلاميذه: أبو سعد السمعاني، وأبو الحسن الجنّابي، وعلي بن الخضر السلمي، وغيرهم. كان يتهم بالتشيّع، وكان صالحا، مات في سابع عشر رمضان سنة (٤١٥) (١).
