والمنسوب: أبو الحسن أحمد بن الربيع بن شافع بن محمد السنكباثي. من شيوخه: عمرو ابن شبيب وأحمد بن حميد بن سعيد السنكباثي وغيرهما، ومن تلاميذه: ابنه عليّ وغيره. وابنه أبو الحسن عليّ بن أحمد السنكباثي. أحد الأئمة الزّهّاد المشهورين بسمرقند. من شيوخه: أبوه، وأبو سعيد عبد الرحمن بن محمد الأستراباذي الحافظ. من تلاميذه: أبو القاسم عبد الله بن عمر الكسائي، وغيره، مات سنة (٤٥٢) (٢).
