والمنسوب: أحمد بن الحجّاج بن عاصم الزاغوني، أبو جعفر، من قرية زاغونى. من شيوخه: الإمام أحمد بن حنبل روى عنه بسنده عن أبي ظبيان عن علي بن أبي طالب ﵁، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «يا عليّ إن وليت الأمر من بعدي فأخرج أهل نجران من جزيرة العرب». وأبو بكر محمد عبيد الله بن نصر بن السريّ الزاغوني، على الظن، الحنبليّ. وأخوه أبو الحسن عليّ بن عبيد الله بن نصر بن السريّ الزاغوني. الحنبليّ، مات أبو الحسن في محرّم سنة (٥٢٧) وهو صاحب التاريخ، وشيخ ابن الجوزي ومربّيه، ومولده سنة (٤٥٥) مات أخوه أبو بكر في سنة (٥٥١) وكان مجلّدا للكتب، أستاذا حاذقا، روى الحديث، مولده في سنة (٤٦٨) (١).
