والمنسوب: أبو عليّ الحسن بن قيس الرّحبي. من شيوخه: عكرمة، وعطاء، ومن تلاميذه: سليمان التيمي.وأبو عبد الله محمد بن عليّ بن محمد بن الحسن الرحبي الفقيه الشافعي المعروف بابن المتفنّنة. من شيوخه: أبو منصور بن الرزاز البغدادي، تفقه عليه، ودرّس ببلده، وصنّف كتبا، ومات بالرحبة سنة (٥٧٧) وقد بلغ ثمانين سنة. وابنه أبو الثناء محمود، كان قد ورد الموصل، وتولى بها نيابة القضاء عن القاضي أبي منصور المظفر بن عبد القاهر بن الحسن بن عليّ بن القاسم الشهرزوري، وبقي مدّة ثمّ صرف عنها، وعاد إلى الرحبة، وكان فقيها عالما (١).
