والمنسوب: الحافظ الإمام أبو الحسن عليّ الدّارقطني، ﵀، وغيره الحافظ المشهور. من شيوخه: أبو القاسم البغوي، وأبو بكر بن أبي داود، وخلق لا يحصون، وكان أديبا يحفظ عدّة من الدواوين منها: ديوان السيد الحميري، فنسب إلى التشيّع، وتفقّه على مذهب الشافعي ﵁، وأخذ الفقه عن أبي سعيد الإصطخري، وقيل: عن صاحب أبي سعيد، ومولده في ذي القعدة سنة (٣٠٦) ومات في ذي القعدة سنة (٣٨٥) ودفن قريبا من معروف الكرخي (٢).
