والمنسوب: أبو عمير عيسى بن محمد بن إسحاق ويقال: ابن محمد بن عيسى الرملي، يعرف بابن النحاس، مات بها. من تلاميذه: أبو زرعة الرازي، وأبو حاتم الرازي، ويحيى بن معين، الإمام البخاري. مات يحيى قبله بثلاث وعشرين سنة، وسئل عنه يحيى فوثّقه، وكان من الصلحاء الأخيار. مات سنة (٢٥٦) في بيت مامين، وحمل إلى الرملة فدفن بها لثمانية أيام مضت من المحرم (١).
