والمنسوب: قاسم بن أصبغ بن يوسف بن ناصح بن عطاء البيّاني، أبو محمد إمام مصنف، ولد في سنة (٢٤٧). من شيوخه: محمد بن وضّاح، ومحمد بن عبد السلام الخشني، وتقيّ بن مخلد. رحل إلى المشرق في سنة (٢٧٤) فسمع الحارث بن أبي أسامة، وإسماعيل بن إسحاق القاضي، وأحمد بن أبي خيثمة، وأبا محمد بن قتيبة، وابن أبي الدنيا، وغيرهم. من تلاميذه: ابن ابنه قاسم بن محمد بن قاسم، وعبد الوارث بن سليمان بن حبرون. عاد إلى قرطبة، وطال عمره فألحق الأصاغر بالأكابر، ومات في سنة (٣٤٠) (٣).
