    المنسوب: أبو يعقوب يوسف بن يحيى البويطي. المصري الفقيه صاحب الشافعيرحمه الله، والمدرّس بعده. من شيوخه: الإمام الشافعي، وعبد الله بن وهب. من تلاميذه: أبو إسماعيل الترمذي، وإبراهيم بن إسحاق الحربي، وقاسم بن مغيرة الجوهري، وأحمد بن منصور الرّمّادي، والقاسم بن هاشم السمسار، وكان حُمل إلى بغداد أيام المحنة، وانتدب إلى القول بخلق القرآن فامتنع من الإجابة إليه، ولم يزل محبوسا حتى توفي، وكان إماما ربّانيّا كثير العبادة والزّهد، ومات في سنة (٢٣١).ومحمد ابن عمر بن عبد الله بن اللّيث أبو عبد الله الشيرازي، الفقيه البويطي، فليس من بويط ولكن كان يدرّس كتاب البويطي، فنسب إليه (١).
