والمنسوب: يعقوب بن يوسف بن أبي سهل بن أبي سعيد بن محمود البلجاني، ثم الكمساني، وبلجان وكمسان: قريتان متّصلتان. كان فقيها واعظا صوفيّا ظريفا، صحب أبا الحسن البستي، سمع منه أبو سعد، توفي في جمادى الأولى سنة (٥٣٦) بقرية كمسان. ومحمد بن عبد الله البلجاني، من بلجان مرو، مات سنة (٢٧٦) (٢).
