والمنسوب: محمد بن الحسين البرجلاني، سكن بغداد، صاحب كتب الزهد والرقائق. من شيوخه: الحسين بن علي الجعفي، وزيد بن الحبّاب، وغيره. ومن تلاميذه: ابن أبي الدنيا، وغيره. سئل أحمد بن حنبل عن شيء من الزهد فقال: عليك بمحمد بن الحسين البرجلاني، وسئل عنه إبراهيم الحربي فقال: ما علمت إلّا خيرا، توفي سنة (٢٣٨). وأما أبو جعفر أحمد بن الخليل ابن ثابت البرجلاني فكان يسكن محلة البرجلانية، فنسب إليها، توفي في شهر ربيع الأول سنة (٢٧٧) (٢).
