والمنسوب: مسعود بن جامع أبو الحسن البصري الأسفي. من شيوخه: الحسين بن طلحة النعالي، حدّث عنه ببغداد، وأبو محمد عبد الله بن أحمد بن الخشاب النحوي سمع منه في سنة (٥٤٠) (٣). (٨٤) النسبة: الإسفنجي، نسبة إلى إِسْفَنْج: بالكسر، ثم السكون، وفتح الفاء، وسكون النون، وجيم: قرية من كورة (٤) أرغيان من نواحي نيسابور، يقال لها سبنج.
