حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الطُّوسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حِينَ أَقْبَلَ مِنْ حَجَّتِهِ دَخَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَنَاخَ عَلَى بَابِ مَسْجِدِهِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَهُ فَرَكَعَ فِيهِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ نَافِعٌ فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ كَذَلِكَ يَصْنَعُ ‏.‏

English translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:

When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) arrived from his hajj, he entered Medina, and made (his camel) kneel down at the gate of his mosque; and he entered it and offered two rak'ahs of prayer; he then returned to his home. Nafi' said: Ibn Umar also used to do so.

Traveling has its etiquettes, which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was keen to observe and consistently upheld. A Muslim should strive to follow these etiquettes and take the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as an example in practicing them.In this Hadith, `Abdullah ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "upon returning" meaning, when he arrived in Madinah "from Hajj," referring to the Farewell Hajj, "entered Madinah and made his camel kneel" that is, he caused it to sit "at the entrance of his Mosque," referring to the Prophet’s Mosque. "He then entered and prayed two Rak`ahs”, meaning, he offered two Rak`ahs upon his arrival from travel, and then “he proceeded to his home.".
