Ibn ‘Abbas told how the Prophet (ﷺ) said when he got up during the night to pray, “O God, to You be the praise; You are supreme over the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To You be the praise; You are the Light of the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To You be the praise; You are the King of the heavens and the earth and their inhabitants. To You be the praise; You are the Truth, Your promise is truth, the meeting with You is true, Your word is true, paradise is true, hell is true, the prophets are true, Muhammad is true, the last hour is true. O God, to You I submit, in You I believe upon You I trust, to You I repent, by Your help I have disputed, and to You I have come for decision, so forgive me my former and my latter sins, my secret and my open sins, and what You knowest better than I. You are He who brings forward, and You are He who defers. There is no god but You, and there is no other god than You.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)
