English translation

Ya'la narrated that he heard ‘Ikrimah the freed slave of Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) say:

Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) told us that the mother of Sa'd bin 'Ubadah died when he was away from her. He went to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: O Messenger of Allah, my mother died when I was away from her. Will it benefit her if I give charity on her behalf? He said: "Yes." He said: I ask you to bear witness that my garden is charity given on her behalf.
