Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man calls his wife to his bed, and she does not respond and he (the husband) spends the night angry with her, the angels curse her until morning". <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>. In another narration: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a woman spends the night away from the bed of her husband, the angels curse her until morning". <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>. In another narration: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "By Him in Whose Hand is my life, when a man calls his wife to his bed, and she does not respond, the One Who is above the heaven becomes displeased with her until he (her husband) becomes pleased with her". <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.

وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏‏"‏إذا دعا الرجل امرأته إلى فراشه فلم تأته فبات غضبان عليها لعنتها الملائكة حتى تصبح‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏ وفي رواية لها ‏"‏إذا باتت المرأة هاجرة فراش زوجها لعنتها الملائكة حتى تصبح‏"‏‏.‏ وفي رواية قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ ‏"‏ والذي نفسي بيده ما من رجل يدعو امرأته إلى فراشه فتأبى عليه إلا كان الذي في السماء ساخطًا عليها حتى يرضي عنها‏"‏‏.‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br> 1) The Hadith provides explicit proof of the view held by Ahl-us-Sunnah wa al-Jamā‘ah that Allah Almighty is in the heaven, established upon His Throne which is above the seven heavens. This is supported by texts of the Shariah as well as scholarly consensus.<br> 2) The Hadith highlights the great right a husband has over his wife; a right that is further emphasized when the husband is properly observing the rights of his wife.<br> 3) A stern warning for the woman against incurring the displeasure of Allah Almighty and the curse of the angels if she refuses to accept her husband’s invitation to bed with the purpose of disobedience and rebellion that lack a Shariah-approved reason.<br> <br> <br> <br> <b>Words in the Hadith:</b><br> The angels curse her: they invoke Allah that she be cursed, meaning that she be expelled and excluded from Allah’s mercy.
