Riyad as-Salihin, 36
'Abdullah bin Mas'ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I can still recall as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: "O Allah! Forgive my people, because they certainly do not know". <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.
وعن أبي عبد الرحمن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه قال: كأني انظر إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يحكي نبياً من الأنبياء، صلوات الله وسلامه عليهم، ضربه قومه فأدموه وهو يمسح الدم عن وجهه، يقول :
اللهم اغفر لقومى فإنهم لا يعلمون
((متفق عليه)) .

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br>
1) One should follow the example of the Prophets’ patience and endurance of harm for the sake of preaching their call to people.<br>
2) One should not deal with the ignorant in the same manner they do because a believer is expected to be a gracious forgiver of the harms inflicted by them.<br>
3) One should not supplicate for the swift punishment of the opponents and the enemies of the religion.<br>
