Narrated Ar-Rubayyi 'bint Mu'auwidh:

We were in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) providing the wounded with water and treating them and bringing the killed to Medina (from the battle field) .

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ، عَنِ الرُّبَيِّعِ بِنْتِ مُعَوِّذٍ، قَالَتْ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَسْقِي، وَنُدَاوِي الْجَرْحَى، وَنَرُدُّ الْقَتْلَى إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ‏.‏

Allah, Exalted is He, did not deem it obligatory on women to partake in fighting in His cause, for it is an exclusive obligation on men. However, women are still allowed to partake in Jihaad along with men and perform the tasks that befit their innately delicate nature. In this hadeeth, Al-Rubayyi‘ bintMu‘auwwidh ibn ‘Afraa’ (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated that she and some other women used to accompany the Prophetﷺ in battles, providing the wounded with water, medical treatment, and carrying the killed back to Al-Madeenah (from the battlefield)to be buried therein..
