Hadith text · Matn

‏ مَنِ اكْتَوَى أَوِ اسْتَرْقَى فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ التَّوَكُّلِ ‏

‏ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated from ‘Aqqar bin Al-Mughirah from his father that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever seeks treatment by cauterization, or with Ruqyah, then he had absolved himself of reliance upon Allah.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، وَيُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ عَنِ الْكَىِّ فَاكْتَوَيْتُ فَمَا أَفْلَحْتُ وَلاَ أَنْجَحْتُ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated that ‘Imran bin Husain said:

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade cauterization. I had myself cauterized and I have not prospered or succeeded.”

‏ الشِّفَاءُ فِي ثَلاَثٍ شَرْبَةِ عَسَلٍ وَشَرْطَةِ مِحْجَمٍ وَكَيَّةٍ بِنَارٍ وَأَنْهَى أُمَّتِي عَنِ الْكَىِّ ‏

‏ ‏.‏ رَفَعَهُ ‏.‏

English translation

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:

“Healing is in three things: A drink of honey, the glass of the cupper, and cauterizing with fire, but I forbid my nation to use cauterization.” And he attributed it to the Prophet (ﷺ).
