حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاَءُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ يَاسِرٍ، قَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِإِقْصَارِ الْخُطَبِ ‏.‏

English translation

Narrated Ammar ibn Yasir:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to shorten the speeches.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَيْبَانُ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم لاَ يُطِيلُ الْمَوْعِظَةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ إِنَّمَا هُنَّ كَلِمَاتٌ يَسِيرَاتٌ ‏.‏

English translation

Narrated Jabir ibn Samurah as-Suwa'i:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would not lengthen the sermon on Friday. He would say a few words.
