It was narrated from Jābir that the Messenger of Allah performed Tawaf, walking rapidly (raml) for three circuits, and walking at a normal pace for four. Then he recited: "And take you the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer." And prayed two rakʿahs with the Maqam between him and the kaʿbah. Then he touched the Corner, then he went out and said: 'As-Safa and Al-Marwah are two of the symbols of Allah. We will start with that with which Allah started.'" Reference: Sunan an-Nasa'i 2962
