sahih· Al-Albani

I was present at fighting along with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and when he did not fight at the beginning of the day, he waited till the sun had passed the meridian, the winds blew, and help came down.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was the best of people in leading armies and in managing warfare. This Hadith highlights part of his military strategy and leadership. An-Nu`man ibn Muqarrin said: “I witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him),” referring to a military expedition he joined. The narration continues, “if he did not fight at the beginning of the day,” - i.e., if combat did not commence at sunrise - “he would delay the fighting until after the sun had passed its zenith, the winds had begun to blow, and victory had descended.” That is, he would wait until midday when the intense heat had subsided, the wind would begin to blow and cool the air and divine support would arrive. This was out of consideration and gentleness toward the army and the soldiers, so that they would be more capable of fighting in moderate weather conditions..
