‘Umar reported God’s Messenger as saying, “When you find a man has been unfaithful about spoil in God’s path, burn his goods and beat him.” Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud transmitted it, Tirmidhi saying this is a <i>gharib</i> tradition.

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِذَا وَجَدْتُمُ الرَّجُلَ قَدْ غَلَّ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَاحْرُقُوا مَتَاعَهُ وَاضْرِبُوهُ» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَقَالَ التِّرْمِذِيُّ: هَذَا حَدِيث غَرِيب هَذَا الْبَاب خَال من الْفَصْل الثَّالِث
