Mishkat al-Masabih, 802

Wa il b. Hujr said he saw that when the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up to pray he raised his hands till they were in front of his shoulders and placed his thumbs opposite his ears, then he said the <i>takbir</i>. Abu Dawud transmitted it, and in a version by him it says that he raised his thumbs to the lobes of his ears.

وَعَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ: أَنَّهُ أَبْصَرَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى كَانَتَا بِحِيَالِ مَنْكِبَيْهِ وحاذى بإبهاميه أُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ. رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُدَ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لَهُ: يَرْفَعُ إِبْهَامَيْهِ إِلَى شَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ
