It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: One day the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) climbed as-Safa and said:

“Ya sabahah, ya sabahah (be on your guard)!” Quraish gathered and said to him: What is the matter? He said: “Do you think if I told you that the enemy is about to attack you in the morning or the evening. would you believe me?” They said: Of course. He said: “I am a warner to you of an imminent severe punishment." Abu Lahab said: Is it for this that you called us together? May you perish! Then Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, revealed the words: "Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet) and perish he!", to the end of the soorah (al-Masad 111).
