It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) besieged the people of at-Ta'if. Two slaves came out to him and he set them free; one of them was Abu Bakrah. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to set slaves free if they came out to him.
