Riyad as-Salihin, 1833

'Abdullah bin Abu 'Aufa (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

We accompanied the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in seven expeditions, and we ate locusts. <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.

وعن عبد الله بن أبي أوفى رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ غزونا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم سبع غزوات نأكل الجراد، وفي رواية‏:‏ نأكل معه الجراد‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br> 1) It highlights the patience displayed by the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with austere and rough living conditions for the sake of elevating the word of Allah Almighty.<br> 2) It is permissible to eat locusts, whatever way they die, as the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Two dead animals and two types of blood are made lawful for us. The two dead animals are fish and locusts.” [Narrated by Ahmad]
