Riyad as-Salihin, 1747

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said:

Once, towards the end of his life, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) concluded the 'Isha' (night) prayer and said, "After one hundred years from tonight none of the people on the surface of the earth will survive." <b>[Al- Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.

وعن ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى العشاء في آخر حياته، فلما سلم، قال‏:‏ ‏

‏أرأيتكم ليلتكم هذه‏؟‏ فإن على رأس مائة سنة لا يبقي ممن هو على ظهر الأرض اليوم أحد‏

‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br> 1) It is permissible to engage in talk after the ‘Ishā’ prayer about knowledge and the interests of Muslims. Falling under this is the talk with one’s guest and spouse or for the purpose of fulfilling the needs of Muslims.<br> 2) This Hadith is one of the signs proving the Prophet’s prophethood. He told the Companions about something that would occur in the future, and it did actually happen. Scholars stated that the last surviving Companion, Abu al-Tufayl ‘Āmir ibn Wāthilah, died in 110 AH.
