Riyad as-Salihin, 1602
Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade animals being tied (as targets). <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.
وعن أنس رضي الله عنه قال: نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن تُصبر البهائم. ((متفق عليه)). ومعناه: تحبس للقتل.

<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br>
1) It is forbidden to detain animals in order to use them as targets of shooting arrows or for amusement purposes because this involves torturing them.<br>
2) The magnificent mercy of Allah, the Exalted, towards His creation is so extensive that it encompasses even small and weak animals.<br>
3) Enjoining good and forbidding evil is obligatory, as reflected by the attitude of the honorable Companion ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) with the young men.
