Riyad as-Salihin, 1391
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said, "He who does not acquire knowledge with the sole intention of seeking the Pleasure of Allah but for worldly gain, will not smell the fragrance of Jannah on the Day of Resurrection." <b>[Abu Dawud]</b>.
وعنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :
من تعلم علمًا مما يبتغى به وجه الله عز وجل لا يتعلمه إلا ليصيب به غرضًا من الدنيا لم يجد عرف الجنة يوم القيامة
((يعني ريحها))، ((رواه أبو داود بإسناد صحيح. )).

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br>
1) It urges us to be sincere in our pursuit of knowledge. To this end, we should intend by seeking knowledge to end our ignorance, end the ignorance of others, and protect and defend the Shariah of Allah Almighty.<br>
2) If a person turns religious knowledge – which is one of the most sublime acts of worship – into a means whereby he seeks to achieve some worldly gain, Allah Almighty threatens him with deprivation of Paradise.
