Riyad as-Salihin, 1321
Sahl bin Hunaif (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who supplicates Allah sincerely for martyrdom, Allah will elevate him to the station of the martyrs, even if he dies on his bed." <b>[Muslim]</b>.
وعن سهل بن حنيف رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:
من سأل الله تعالى الشهادة بصدق بلغه الله منازل الشهداء وإن مات على فراشه
((رواه مسلم)).

<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br>
1) The sincere intention of a believer entails the same reward for the deed itself – if he is kept from doing it for some reason – as if he actually did that deed.<br>
2) One of the commendable supplications to be made by a believer is to sincerely ask Allah Almighty for martyrdom.
