Riyad as-Salihin, 1245

'Aishah, and Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would wake during Ramadan (fasting) in a state of major impurity without a wet dream, but on account of sexual intercourse and he would take a bath before dawn. <b>[Al- Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.

وعن عائشة وأم سلمة رضي الله عنهما قالتا‏:‏ كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يصبح جنبًا من غير حلم ثم يصوم‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br> 1) It is permissible for a person in a state of ritual impurity to begin the fast, even if he does not take the ritual bath before daybreak.<br> 2) The basic rule regarding the Prophet’s actions is that they constitute conclusive evidence and are legislations for the Muslims. No one should say that the Prophet’s practices only applies to himself unless this is established by a proof.<br> 3) They highlight the merit of the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with them) as they conveyed with honesty and integrity what had taken place in their houses relating to the Shariah rulings for the Ummah.
