Hudhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Prophet (ﷺ) prohibited us from eating or drinking from gold or silver utensils and from wearing silk and brocade, or sitting on (anything made from) them. <b>[Al-Bukhari]</b>.

وعن حذيفة رضى الله عنه قال‏:‏ نهانا النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أن نشرب في آنية الذهب والفضة، وأن نأكل فيها، وعن لبس الحرير والديباج،وأن نجلس عليه‏.‏‏‏((‏رواه البخارى‏)‏‏)‏‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br> 1) It is a major sin for men to wear silk or to sit on it. A stern warning was given in this regard, which indicates that the sin is a major one.<br> 2) Whoever enjoys disobedience to Allah Almighty in this world is threatened with deprivation of bliss in the Hereafter.<br> 3) Wearing silk and gold is permissible for women and prohibited for men. This is one of the rulings that make a distinction between men and women.<br> 4) The prohibition of drinking in gold and silver vessels applies to both men and women, for this is typical of the disbelievers, and it is impermissible for Muslims to imitate them.
