<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br> 1) Forbiddance from tilting the mouths of waterskins and drinking from them in this state, lest there are harmful things in the water.<br> 2) This forbiddance pertains to the act of putting one’s mouth over the waterskin’s mouth, for this causes stench in the vessel. But there is nothing wrong if a person pours water from the skin and then drinks it.<br> 3) It is permissible to drink while standing, if needed. In such a case, a person does what is otherwise forbidden, because of need.<br> 4) It is permissible to seek blessing from the Prophet’s authentic relics. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) were keen to retain his relics and belongings to seek blessing therefrom. As for other people, no blessing should be sought from their bodies or relics. This trait exclusively belongs to the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) in light of his status as a Messenger of Allah.
