Riyad as-Salihin, 545
'Adi bin Hatim (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Protect yourself from Hell-fire even by giving a piece of date as charity." <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.
وعن عدى بن حاتم رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:
اتقوا النار ولو بشق تمرة
((متفق عليه)).

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br>
1) The areas of goodness are numerous and varied. The believer will always find something good to do, even if it were only half a date that he gives in charity so that it will save him from Hellfire.<br>
2) The Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) taught his Ummah the ways of attaining salvation from punishment.
