Riyad as-Salihin, 531
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "He who begs to increase his riches is in fact asking only for a live coal. It is up to him to decrease it or increase it." <b>[Muslim]</b>.
وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم :
من سأل الناس تكثراً فإنما يسأل جمراً؛ فليستقل أو ليستكثر
((رواه مسلم)).

<b>Guidance from the Hadiths:</b><br>
1) It is prohibited to beg from people. Indeed, all honor lies in a person’s humiliation before his Lord alone. It is not permissible for him to humiliate himself by begging from others - except in case of necessity.<br>
2) It is legitimate under the Shariah to seek one’s rights from those in authority, as a Muslim ruler is the one in charge of the affairs of his subjects. So, asking him for something is not a form of humiliation.
