Riyad as-Salihin, 460

Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Three (things) follow a dead person: Members of his family, his property and his deeds. Two of them return; and one remains with him. The people and his wealth return; his deeds remain with him". <b>[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]</b>.

وعنه عن رسول الله ، صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏:‏ “يتبع الميت ثلاثة‏:‏ أهله وماله وعمله‏:‏ فيرجع اثنان ويبقى واحد‏:‏ يرجع أهله وماله ويبقى عمله‏"‏‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏‏‏.‏

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br> 1) What truly benefits a deceased person is his good deeds. So, blissful are those who are taken to their graves with abundant righteous deeds.<br> 2) A person’s family and property are but temporary deposits with him, and he will eventually go to his Lord and leave them behind.
