Riyad as-Salihin, 367
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Man follows his friend's religion, you should be careful who you take for friends". <b>[Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi, who classified it as Hadith Hasan]</b>.
- وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:
الرجل على دين خليله، فلينظر أحدكم من يخالل
. ((رواه أبو داود، والترمذي بإسناد صحيح، وقال الترمذي: حديث حسن)).

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br>
1) One should accompany good people, since companionship has an evident impact on the person’s behavior.<br>
2) A person’s faith increases by accompanying the believers and decreases by accompanying the sinners. A companion is a dragger, either to good or evil, and mixing with someone entails resemblance to them.
