Riyad as-Salihin, 366
Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Keep only a believer for a companion and let only a pious eat your food". <b>[At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud]</b>.
وعن أبي سعيد الخدري رضي الله عنه ، عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال:
لا تصاحب إلا مؤمنا، ولا يأكل طعامك إلا تقي
. ((رواه أبو داود، والترمذي بإسناد لا بأس به)).

<b>Guidance from the Hadith:</b><br>
1) It is strictly forbidden to keep the company of the disbelievers or the wicked or to show them affection. It is also forbidden to honor them even by giving them food and drink.<br>
2) It is enjoined to keep the company of the pious believers and socialize with them, since this is the commandment of the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) which we should comply with.
